Born and raised in Miami Beach, FL, I was first introduced to drawing by my Grandpa Bernie at 5 years old. Even with his expertise, tutorials, and patience, it was clear that I would not be following any rules of a formal fine artist. My grandpa welcomed this early creative defiance with open arms and new custom sticky notes. He made sure I had everything I needed to make my “informal” art come to life. With cartoons and comic books as inspiration, my work is a multiverse of playful, rebellious characters.
Using my preferred mediums of black ink and alcohol/water based markers, I personify my thoughts and questions with heavy shading, accessorizing and vibrant color. My characters are eccentric storytellers, interacting with their environments filled with bold symbolic clutter. I want my characters to honor, challenge and cope with the many nuances of exploring identity.
I make art to amplify humorous, restorative, yet, critical social commentary. This collective of surreal figures and offbeat comedy acts as a vessel for my own unapologetically authentic narrative.
